Above the Waves
Above the Waves you seem to be, in a self- catering apartment for 2, overlooking False Bay, the quaint village of Simon’s Town and the Navy Dock Yards. Above the Waves is located 50km South of Cape Town on the scenic Cape Peninsula – GPS : 34, 10’52. 7min South, 18, 25’28. 7min East.
The holiday flat consists of bedroom (queen bed, heater, fan, safe, hairdryer) bathroom (shower over bath, wall-radiator) kitchenette (microwave, fridge, hotplates, fully equipped) and lounge (TV, free Wi-Fi access) extending into the glass-covered sunroom with fabulous views over the bay.
The flat is accessible over 2 flight of stairs and has a 180 degree view angle from the sunroom.
Other specials: Separate entrance and lighted off street parking. Sunroom which enables one to enjoy the view (in spite of South Easter winds) winter and summer. Assistance for airport transport and local car rental at reasonable rates.
English, French, Armenian, German spoken.
Time to visit; Best time of the year to visit our area are our spring (Aug-Oct, Whale season) and autumn (March, April, May) with well-tempered weather, but even our winter (never frost or snow) has frequently a row of beautiful sunny days with blue skies. Summer heat (Nov./Dec. – February) is controlled through the South Easter wind, called the “Cape Doctor”, which keeps the air clear and clean.
Location: Historical Simon’s Town shelters in stunning False Bay, the ideal place for a holiday. Life happens along one main road, which sets the traveller back in time due to the many buildings which have survived from the 17th and 18th centuries. In spite of that there is much to do and see in and around the village.
Activities around town: There are several museums of interest:
1.The well-known Toy museum on main road
2. The Navy museum
3. Simon’s Town museum, right beside St Francis of Assisi 200 years Anglican Church, the oldest Anglican church in the country
4.The historical mile around Simon’s Town.
For activities you have many choices: deep sea fishing, kayaking, swimming in lovely clear water across the road on sandy beaches or secluded little coves. Sail out to trace sharks or dive in a cage to see them ‘ face to face’. Discover nature in one of the world’s richest regions of flora and fauna. There are hundreds of hiking trails from Table Mountain to Cape Point.
The whales visit from around August to October, and it is great watching them from the balcony or sunroom.
If Golf is your game, Simon’s Town has a 9 hole course with a great views.
17 restaurants and eateries offer different foods for different tastes and pockets.
If your passion is bird watching there are many species to observe in the Peninsula and the most well -known are the penguins and the ostriches in and around Simon’s Town. Our “Town-seabird -specialist” takes fans out many sea miles into open waters to find and watch the Albatross birds.

1 March – 30 September the flat will cost R 600 p/n, minimum 2 nights, special: pay for 6 nights and stay for 7
1 October – 29 February R 700 p/n, minimum 3 nights.
50% payment before arrival, remainder on arrival. One time R 200 cleaning fee
