There are a variety of hiking trails in the mountains which surround the Noordhoek Valley.
These vary from 1 to 4 hours in duration and provide superb views of the area. It is usually simple to obtain a local guide (usually at very little or no cost).
There are groups which go on regular weekly walks and visitors are welcome to join these groups. A walk to Noordhoek Peak provides sensational views of both the Noordhoek Valley and Hout Bay.

Hiking Trail Bucket List:

The following trails are free to the public and boast magnificent views of the valley.

Silvermine ValleySilvermine Valley

The Silvermine Valley can be seen on your left as you enter Noordhoek via Ou Kaapse Weg. After having been ravaged by the 2015 Cape Fire, this valley is showing a remarkable and heartwarming recovery.  Fynbos and grasses are slowly but surely reclaiming the land, and apart from magnificent views of the Silvermine Mountain Range (and Noordhoek Valley as you ascend)  this easygoing trail also passes ruins of an early stone dwelling, streams, and, after the winter rains, a waterfall.

Chapmans Peak TrialChapmans Peak Trail

The trail up this iconic peak stars from Longbeach; follow the wooden staircase and cross Chapmans Peak Drive.  This route then winds up Chapmans Peak itself alternating views of the Noordhoek Valley, the Atlantic Ocean and Hout Bay.   You may choose to retreat back to Noordhoek, once you have summited Chapmans Peak, or, if you're feeling ambitious descend towards Hout Bay and spend an afternoon in this neighbouring town... unless you're feeling like an iron man - don't forget to book a taxi back home!
